Cabbage Rolls

Something warm and comforting on a January night!

This Sunday, there was nothing leftover in the fridge that needed to be used; and nothing in particular our family was craving. But it was plain cold this whole week, so the inspiration was to find something comforting.

Canadian Living provides the recipe – browsing the website, the links on “quick” and “comfort” certainly got clicks from me! The recipe worked pretty well, and I think the only thing I’d add is a crunch factor to the filling.. water chestnuts? Slivered almonds? Chopped carrots? Hmm, though do you think it would stand up to 1.5 hours in the oven?

I soon found out that blanching means softening vegetables in boiling water

Oh, new ingredient! The last time we had sauerkraut in our kitchen was used as a natural remedy to treat my sister's canker sore
